Illinois Electric Deregulation

In 2007, the electricity unbundling process occurred in Illinois for Commonwealth Edison and Ameren customers. At that time, the larger end consumers of electricity had to choose between purchasing electricity from an Alternate Energy Supplier (AES) or continue to purchase electricity from their current utility on an hourly basis. Smaller end users had a similar choice although their default service was a fixed price not the volatile hourly rate
Learn what Illinois Electric deregulation is all about and how to protect yourself from volatile market prices.

Effective May 2010, the smaller consumers will no longer have the opportunity to continue on a fixed price. Like the larger consumers, these customers will need to choose a new provider or purchase electricity from their current utility on an hourly basis when demand (and potentially prices) are at its peak!. The customers who are required to make this choice are as follows:

Commonwealth Edison:
Rate RDS customers (peak demand is between100 - 400 kW)

Ameren:
Rates DS-3 & DS-4 customers (peak demand is 400 – 1,000 kW)

Find out today if your company can benefit from choosing a supply contract from one of 39 competing Alternate Energy Suppliers! If you are a commercial or industrial energy consumer in one of Commonwealth Edison or Ameren’s service territories EMR is ready to help.
